“Helping children become active is huge for development in all aspects of their lives. Giving chances for everyone to play sports growing up helps Canada become healthier at a younger age and provides endless opportunities for kids to discover their dreams. Extra help goes a long way in giving Canada’s next generation a head start at discovering sport.” – Maëlle Ricker, Olympic snowboarder, on KidSport
What we're doing
value community partnerships.
At Westminster Savings, we’re committed to helping our members Achieve better balance—and not just financially. Longer work hours and 24/7 connectivity means we’re often out of balance in other areas of our lives, which can lead to poor health, relationship conflict, psychological distress and lower life satisfaction.
We also know that finding balance among competing priorities can be especially difficult for some groups such as single parents, those new to Canada or persons with disabilities. Many individuals simply cannot find ways to balance their lives – they may not have access or the resources to participate in arts or leisure activities, they may not have any role models or support systems in place, they may face language or cultural barriers, or their communities may not offer programming or sufficient recreational space.
That’s why we believe in providing access to arts and active living opportunities in the communities where we live and work. Participation in arts and active living leads to greater self-confidence, athletic development, personal expression, enhanced critical thinking and social reinforcement. It makes our communities healthier, more inclusive places to live.
In other words: involvement in arts and active living leads to better balance, and that’s what we’re all about.
Every year we donate over $500,000 in sponsorships and grants to organizations that provide arts and active living opportunities in our communities. Explore the links and testimonies on this page to learn more about how we’re helping bring better balance to you and your community.

Testimonials
“This Arts Umbrella program has made a huge impact, not only on the children but on the community. The children are happier to come to school, they’re more confident and they are able to express their feelings more. The most important thing is that they now have the confidence to get along positively with their peers.” – Strathcona Community Centre

Testimonials
“As our cities continue to grow, so does the need for services directed towards young people. Westminster Savings is helping to ensure access to the richness of the arts within the communities that it serves.” – ArtStarts
